(Hadith No. 1390)

Bismillah.
Hadith no. 1389 (below) is a repeat. Read it here.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 689:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu):
In the year prior to the last Hajj of the Prophet when Allahs Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) made Abu Bakr (radiallaahu `anhu) the leader of the pilgrims, the latter (Abu Bakr (radiallaahu `anhu)) sent me in the company of a group of people to make a public announcement: 'No pagan is allowed to perform Hajj after this year, and no naked person is allowed to perform Tawaf of the Kaba.'

Today's Hadith:

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 690:
Narrated Amr:
We asked Ibn Umar (radiallaahu `anhu): "May a man have sexual relations with his wife during the Umra before performing Tawaf between Safa and Marwa?" He said, "Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) arrived (in Mecca) and circumambulated the Kaba seven times, then offered two Rakat behind Maqam Ibrahim (the station of Abraham), then performed Tawaf between Safa and Marwa." Ibn Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) added, "Verily! In Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) you have a good example." And I asked Jabir bin Abdullah (radiallaahu `anhu) (the same question), and he replied, "You should not go near your wives (have sexual relations) till you have finished Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. "
Note: "Tawaaf between Safa and Marwa" = Sa`ee.
It is permissible for a man to have intercourse with his wife at any time, except when one of them is in ihraam for Hajj or ‘Umrah, or is fasting, so it is not allowed during the day when one of them is fasting, but it is allowed at night; it is also haraam when the woman is menstruating or bleeding following childbirth.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“The Hajj (pilgrimage) is (in) the well-known (lunar year) months (i.e. the 10th month, the 11th month and the first ten days of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, i.e. two months and ten days). So whosoever intends to perform Hajj therein (by assuming Ihraam), then he should not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during the Hajj”
[al-Baqarah 2:197]

Following Someone in Tawaaf (Ahadith 1386 – 1388)

Bismillah.
Ahadith 1384 & 1385 (below) are repeats. Read here.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 684:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu):
When Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba for Hajj or 'Umra, he used to do Ramal during the first three rounds, and in the last four rounds he used to walk; then after the Tawaf he used to offer two Rakat and then performed Tawaf between Safa and Marwa.

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 685:
Narrated Ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu):
When the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) performed the Tawaf of the Ka'ba, he did Ramal during the first three rounds and in the last four rounds he used to walk and while doing Tawaf between Safa and Marwa, he used to run in the midst of the rain water passage.

Today's Ahadith:

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 686:
Narrated Um Salama (the wife of the Prophet) (radiallaahu `anhaa):
I informed Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) that I was ill. So he said, "Perform the Tawaf while riding behind the people." I did so, and at that time the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) was praying beside the Ka'ba and reciting Surat-at-Tur.

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 687:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
While the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) was performing Tawaf of the Kaba, he passed by a person who had tied his hands to another person with a rope or string or something like that. The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) cut it with his own hands and said, "Lead him by the hand."

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 688:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) saw a man performing Tawaf of the Kaba tied with a string or something else. So the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) cut that string.

One may follow another in tawaaf, e.g. the group leader or mahram, but they have to make sure to only be led by hand. Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) discouraged the use of string/rope etc. that tied up the follower to the leader, as in the above Ahadith.

Upon Reaching Makkah, First Thing (Hadith No. 1383)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 683:
Narrated 'Urwa:
'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) said, "The first thing the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) did on reaching Mecca, was the ablution and then he performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba and that was not 'Umra (alone), (but Hajj-al-Qiran). 'Urwa added: Later Abu Bakr (radiallaahu `anhu) and 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) did the same in their Hajj." And I performed the Hajj with my father Az-Zubair (radiallaahu `anhu), and the first thing he did was Tawaf of the Ka'ba. Later I saw the Muhajirin (Emigrants) and the Ansar doing the same. My mother (Asma' (radiallaahu `anhaa)) told me that she, her sister ('Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa)), Az-Zubair (radiallaahu `anhu) and such and such persons assumed Ihram for 'Umra, and after they passed their hands over the Black Stone Corner (of the Ka'ba) they finished the Ihram. (i.e. After doing Tawaf of the Ka'ba and Sa'i between Safa-Marwa.
This is Tawaaf al-qudoom (tawaaf of arrival) for Hajj. This is done by the pilgrim who has entered ihraam for Hajj and by the pilgrim who is doing Qiraan, i.e., joining ‘Umrah and Hajj, when he reaches the Ka’bah. It is one of the obligatory duties or Sunnahs of Hajj – there is a difference of scholarly opinion.

More on the Black Stone.. (Ahadith 1377 - 1382)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 677:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
In his Last Hajj the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba riding a camel and pointed a bent-headed stick towards the Corner (Black Stone).
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 678:
Narrated Salim bin 'Abdullah that his father said:
"I have not seen the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) touching except the two Yemenite Corners (i.e. the ones facing Yemen)."
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 679:
Narrated Zaid bin Aslam that his father said:
"I saw 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (radiallaahu `anhu) kissing the Black Stone and he then said, (to it) 'Had I not seen Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) kissing you, (stone) I would not have kissed you.' "
Also posted here.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 680:
Narrated Az-Zubair bin 'Arabi:
A man asked Ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) about the touching of the Black Stone. Ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) said, "I saw Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) touching and kissing it." The questioner said, "But if there were a throng (much rush) round the Ka'ba and the people overpowered me, (what would I do?)" He replied angrily, "Stay in Yemen (as that man was from Yemen). I saw Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) touching and kissing it."
LOL @ Ibn `Umar (radiallaahu `anhu)'s reply. :P
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 681:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba while riding a camel, and whenever he came in front of the Corner, he pointed towards it (with something).
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 682:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba riding a camel, and every time he came in front of the Corner (having the Black Stone), he pointed towards it with something he had with him and said Takbir.
Tawaaf or circumambulation of the Ka’bah is a pure act of worship and the basic principle with regard to acts of worship is tawqeef (i.e., to do them exactly as prescribed in the Qur'aan and Sunnah). It is proven from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he used to say takbeer in his tawaaf every time he came in line with the Black Stone, and undoubtedly the person who is doing tawaaf comes in line with it at the end of the seventh circuit, so it is Sunnah for him to say takbeer just as it is Sunnah for him to say takbeer at the beginning of every circuit when he comes in line with it, following the example of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), along with pointing at the Black Stone and kissing it if he can.
Details here.
Question: Is it okay to stand at the black stone and block tawaaf? Answer here.

Hajj - Ramal (Ahadith 1372 - 1376)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 672:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
When Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) and his companions came to Mecca, the pagans circulated the news that a group of people were coming to them and they had been weakened by the Fever of Yathrib (Medina). So the Prophet ordered his companions to do Ramal in the first three rounds of Tawaf of the Ka'ba and to walk between the two corners (The Black Stone and Yemenite corner). The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) did not order them to do Ramal in all the rounds of Tawaf out of pity for them.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 673:
Narrated Salim that his father said:
I saw Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) arriving at Mecca; he kissed the Black Stone Corner first while doing Tawaf and did ramal in the first three rounds of the seven rounds (of Tawaf).
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 674:
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) did Ramal in (first) three rounds (of Tawaf), and walked in the remaining four, in Hajj and Umra.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 675:
Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father who said:
"Umar bin Al-Khattab (radiallaahu `anhu) addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'By Allah! I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.' Then he kissed it and said, 'There is no reason for us to do Ramal (in Tawaf) except that we wanted to show off before the pagans, and now Allah has destroyed them.' 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) added, '(Nevertheless), the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) did that and we do not want to leave it (i.e. Ramal).'
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 676:
Narrated Nafi':
Ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) said, "I have never missed the touching of these two stones of Ka'ba (the Black Stone and the Yemenite Corner) both in the presence and the absence of crowds, since I saw the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) touching them." I asked Nafi': "Did Ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) use to walk between the two Corners?" Nafi' replied, "He used to walk in order that it might be easy for him to touch it (the Corner Stone)."
It is a Sunnah to trot in the first three circuits of tawaaf and it is Sunnah to jog in saa‘i between the two markers; these are two Sunnahs that apply to men, not women. One should walk fast between the two markers in all laps of saa’i, from al-Safa to al-Marwah and from al-Marwah to al-Safa.
Ibn Qudaamah said in al-Mughni (10/236), when describing saa’i between al-Safa and al-Marwah:
It means coming down from al-Safa and walking until you are level with the marker, which is the green mark that is attached to the corner of the mosque. When you are about six cubits away from it, you should walk quickly until you come in line with the other marker, then you should stop trotting and walk (normally) until you come to al-Marwah, then stand to face the qiblah and say du’aa’ as you did at al-Safa. … Then come down and walk in the place for walking, and trot in the place for trotting. End quote.
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked about that and said:
Yes, it is the same when going from al-Marwah to al-Safa as when going from al-Safa to al-Marwah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did that, as is proven in the saheeh ahaadeeth.
Back from 2011 `Umrah
Back from 2011 `Umrah
Ibn al-Mundhir said:
The scholars are unanimously agreed that women do not have to trot around the Ka’bah or between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and they do not have to uncover one shoulder, because the purpose behind these two actions is to show strength, and women are not included in that because the basic principle for women is to conceal themselves, but in trotting and baring one shoulder they would be uncovering themselves. End quote.

Inside the Ka`bah [contd.] (Ahadith 1369 - 1371)

Bismillah.
Hadith no. 1368 (below) is a repeat. Read it here.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 668:
Narrated Salim that his father said,
"Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam), Usama bin Zaid (radiallaahu `anhu), Bilal (radiallaahu `anhu), and 'Uthman bin abu Talha (radiallaahu `anhu) entered the Ka'ba and then closed its door. When they opened the door I was the first person to enter (the Ka'ba). I met Bilal (radiallaahu `anhu) and asked him, "Did Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) offer a prayer inside (the Ka'ba)?" Bilal (radiallaahu `anhu) replied in the affirmative and said, "(The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) offered the prayer) in between the two right pillars."

Today's Ahadith:

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 669:
Narrated Nafi':
Whenever Ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) entered the Ka'ba he used to walk straight keeping the door at his back on entering, and used to proceed on till about three cubits from the wall in front of him, and then he would offer the prayer there aiming at the place where Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) prayed, as Bilal (radiallaahu `anhu) had told him. There is no harm for any person to offer the prayer at any place inside the Ka'ba.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 670:
Narrated Isma'li bin Abu Khalid:
'Abdullah bin Abu Aufa (radiallaahu `anhu) said, "Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) performed the 'Umra. He performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba and offered two Rakat behind the Maqam (Abraham (`alayhissalaam)'s place) and was accompanied by those who were screening him from the people." Somebody asked 'Abdullah, "Did Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) enter the Ka'ba?" 'Abdullah replied in the negative.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 671:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
When Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) came to Mecca, he refused to enter the Ka'ba with idols in it. He ordered (idols to be taken out). So they were taken out. The people took out the pictures of Abraham (`alayhissalaam) and Ishmael (`alayhissalaam) holding Azlams in their hands. Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "May Allah curse these people. By Allah, both Abraham (`alayhissalaam) and Ishmael (`alayhissalaam) never did the game of chance with Azlams." Then he entered the Ka'ba and said Takbir at its corners but did not offer the prayer in it.
  1. Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) did pray inside the Ka`bah. Scholars of Hadith have preferred Bilal (radiallaahu `anhu)'s report over Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu)'s report because what a person saw is a stronger proof than of what a person did not see. I suggest you read that again..
  2. Considering that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) did not enter the Ka`bah when `Abdullah ibn `Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu)' was watching him, it gives proof that entering Ka`bah during Tawaf/`Umrah is not necessary. If one gets to get in (Hateem, for example), well and good. If not, no issues.
  3. Once you're inside the Ka`bah, you can pray facing any direction. How cool is that?
I don't know if the Hateem is to be included in this or not, though..

Kissing the Black Stone (Hadith No. 1367)

Bismillah.
Hadith no. 1365 and 1366 (below) are repeats. Read the post here.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 665:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "As if I were looking at him, a black person with thin legs plucking the stones of the Ka'ba one after another. "
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 666:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu):
Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "DhusSuwaiqatain (the thin legged man) from Ethiopia will demolish the Ka'ba."

Today's Hadith:

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 667:
Narrated 'Abis bin Rabia:
'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) came near the Black Stone and kissed it and said "No doubt, I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit anyone nor harm anyone. Had I not seen Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) kissing you I would not have kissed you."
Touching the black stone, kissing it or pointing to it is the first thing that a person does when he wants to circumambulate the Ka’bah (tawaaf), whether he is doing Hajj or ‘Umrah or a voluntary tawaaf. The Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) kissed it, and his ummah followed him in doing so. If a person is unable to kiss it he should touch it with his hand or with something, and then kiss that thing. If he is unable to do that he should point to it with his hand and say Allaahu akbar. Touching the Stone is one of the things by means of which Allaah erases sins.
More on it here.

Respect -> Obedience (Hadith No. 1364)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 664:
Narrated Abu Wail: (One day) I sat along with Shaiba on the chair inside the Ka'ba. He (Shaiba) said, "No doubt, Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) sat at this place and said, 'I intended not to leave any yellow (i.e. gold) or white (i.e. silver) (inside the Ka'ba) undistributed.' I said (to 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu)), 'But your two companions (i.e. The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) and Abu Bakr (radiallaahu `anhu)) did not do so.' 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) said, They are the two persons whom I always follow.' "
Distribution of money = (financial) fiqh  issue. I'm not competent enough to delve into that. Yet.
There's something else in this narration. Something so minute, yet of great importance. Notice how `Umar (radiallaahu `anhu) wants to do one thing, but ends up doing the other because the latter was what Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) and Abu Bakr (radiallaahu `anhu) preferred in their lifetime. It's called respect for your elders (in age and rank). He stopped where they stopped. No questions asked. It's simple, right? Why then do we ask questions? Why do we want to go beyond our limits? Why can't we just accept? Why can't we just hear and obey? Why can't we just submit?
One more thing, Allah wasn't pleased with Sahabah for nothing. They had great qualities and they exercised them. They did more than they said. They sacrificed, they proved their worth. They were wonderful people. :)

When Hajj will be Abandoned.. (Hadith No. 1363)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 663:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (radiallaahu `anhu): The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said "The people will continue performing the Hajj and 'Umra to the Ka'ba even after the appearance of Gog and Magog."
Narrated Shu'ba extra: The Hour (Day of Judgment) will not be established till the Hajj (to the Ka'ba) is abandoned.
Yes, there will come a time when no righteous people will remain on Earth (they'll die due tot he wind that Allah will send after Gog and Magog's wipe-out). Therefore no Hajj, and Qiyamah will be brought upon the evil ones. May Allah save us from seeing that time!

Fasting on `Ashura (Hadith No. 1362)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 662:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
The people used to fast on 'Ashura (the tenth day of the month of Muharram) before the fasting of Ramadan was made obligatory. And on that day the Ka'ba used to be covered with a cover. When Allah made the fasting of the month of Ramadan compulsory, Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "Whoever wishes to fast (on the day of 'Ashura') may do so; and whoever wishes to leave it can do so."
It is mustahab to fast on `Ashura and to fast on the 9th along with it as well.
'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasted on 'Ashura' and commanded the Muslims to fast as well, they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is a day that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'If I live to see the next year, in sha Allah, we will fast on the ninth day too.' But it so happened that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away before the next year came." [Reported by Muslim, 1916]
Ash-Shafi'i and his companions, Ahmad, Ishaq and others said: "It is mustahabb to fast on both the ninth and tenth days, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasted on the tenth, and intended to fast on the ninth."

Ka`bah to be Demolished Once More (Hadith No. 1361)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 661:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "Dhus-Suwaiqa-tain (literally: One with two lean legs) from Ethiopia will demolish the Ka'ba."
This Hadith talks about the end of times, when people will have forgotten the Quran altogether, and there'll be no khayr (good) on Earth. The time when Ka`bah will also be removed from Earth, as it is also 'good'. Black/Ethiopian people will rise to power and it'll be one among them who'll demolish the Ka`bah. And Allah knows best.

Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)'s Stay in Makkah During Hajj (Ahadith 1358 - 1360)

Bismillah.
Hadith no. 1357 (below) is a repeat. Read it here.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 657:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiallaahi `anhu):
On the Day of the Conquest of Mecca, Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "Allah has made this town a sanctuary. Its thorny bushes should not be cut, its game should not be chased, and its fallen things should not be picked up except by one who would announce it publicly."

Today's Ahadith:

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 658:
Narrated 'Usama bin Zaid (radiallaahi `anhu):
I asked, "O Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)! Where will you stay in Mecca? Will you stay in your house in Mecca?" He replied, "Has 'Aqil left any property or house?" Aqil along with Talib had inherited the property of Abu Talib. Jafar (radiallaahi `anhu) and Ali (radiallaahi `anhu) did not inherit anything as they were Muslims and the other two were non-believers. 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (radiallaahi `anhu) used to say, "A believer cannot inherit (anything from an) infidel." Ibn Shihab, (a sub-narrator) said, "They (Umar (radiallaahi `anhu) and others) derived the above verdict from Allah's Statement: "Verily! those who believed and Emigrated and strove with their life And property in Allah's Cause, And those who helped (the emigrants) And gave them their places to live in, These are (all) allies to one another." (8.72)

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 659:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahi `anhu):
When Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) intended to enter Mecca he said, "Our destination tomorrow, if Allah wished, will be Khaif Bani Kinana where (the pagans) had taken the oath of Kufr." (Against the Prophet i.e. to be loyal to heathenism by boycotting Bani Hashim, the Prophet's (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) folk).

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 660:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahi `anhu):
On the Day of Nahr at Mina, the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "Tomorrow we shall stay at Khaif Bani Kinana where the pagans had taken the oath of Kufr (heathenism)." He meant (by that place) Al-Muhassab where the Quraish tribe and Bani Kinana concluded a contract against Bani Hashim and Bani 'Abdul-Muttalib or Bani Al-Muttalib that they would not intermarry with them or deal with them in business until they handed over the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) to them.

The Original Ka`bah (Ahadith 1353 - 1356)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 653:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
(the wife of the Prophet) that Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said to her, "Do you know that when your people (Quraish) rebuilt the Ka'ba, they decreased it from its original foundation laid by Abraham (`alayhissalaam)?" I said, "O Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)! Why don't you rebuild it on its original foundation laid by Abraham (`alayhissalaam)?" He replied, "Were it not for the fact that your people are close to the pre-lslamic Period of ignorance (i.e. they have recently become Muslims) I would have done so." The sub-narrator, 'Abdullah (bin 'Umar) (radiallaahu `anhustated: 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) 'must have heard this from Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) for in my opinion Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallamhad not placed his hand over the two corners of the Ka'ba opposite Al-Hijr only because the Ka'ba was not rebuilt on its original foundations laid by Abraham (`alayhissalaam).

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 654:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
I asked the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallamwhether the round wall (near Ka'ba) was part of the Ka'ba. The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) replied in the affirmative. I further said, "What is wrong with them, why have they not included it in the building of the Ka'ba?" He said, "Don't you see that your people (Quraish) ran short of money (so they could not include it inside the building of Ka'ba)?" I asked, "What about its gate? Why is it so high?" He replied, "Your people did this so as to admit into it whomever they liked and prevent whomever they liked. Were your people not close to the Pre-lslamic Period of ignorance (i.e. they have recently embraced Islam) and were I not afraid that they would dislike it, surely I would have included the (area of the) wall inside the building of the Ka'ba and I would have lowered its gate to the level of the ground."

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 655:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said to me, "Were your people not close to the Pre-lslamic period of ignorance, I would have demolished the Ka'ba and would have rebuilt it on its original foundations laid by Abraham (`alayhissalaam(for Quraish had curtailed its building), and I would have built a back door (too)."

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 656:
Narrated Yazid bin Ruman from 'Urwa (radiallaahu `anhu):
'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) said that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said to her, "O Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa)! Were your nation not close to the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance, I would have had the Ka'ba demolished and would have included in it the portion which had been left, and would have made it at a level with the ground and would have made two doors for it, one towards the east and the other towards the west, and then by doing this it would have been built on the foundations laid by Abraham (`alayhissalaam)." That was what urged Ibn-Az-Zubair to demolish the Ka'ba. Jazz said, "I saw Ibn-Az-Zubair when he demolished and rebuilt the Ka'ba and included in it a portion of Al-Hijr (the unroofed portion of Ka'ba which is at present in the form of a compound towards the north-west of the Ka'ba). I saw the original foundations of Abraham (`alayhissalaamwhich were of stones resembling the humps of camels." So Jarir asked Yazid, "Where was the place of those stones?" Jazz said, "I will just now show it to you." So Jarir accompanied Yazid and entered Al-Hijr, and Jazz pointed to a place and said, "Here it is." Jarir said, "It appeared to me about six cubits from Al-Hijr or so."

Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)'s wisdom is unmatched! He avoided SUCH a big fitna by letting the Ka`bah be as it was. If only we were to deal with people and situations with enough wisdom. Most of the fasaad(s) are among the consequences of our own (non-wisdom-ful) actions.
May Allah give us hikmah (wisdom) and sabr (patience)!

Hayaa' (Hadith No. 1352)

Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 652:
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah (radiallaahu `anhu):
When the Ka'ba was built, the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) and Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu) went to bring stones (for its construction). Al Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu) said to the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam), "Take off your waist sheet and put it on your neck." (When the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) took it off) he fell on the ground with his eyes open towards the sky and said, "Give me my waist sheet." And he covered himself with it.
It's sort of funny, and cute. Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) was so modest and shy, SubhanAllah! Women even have so much to learn from him!
