Adhaan for Jumu`ah Prayer (Ahadith 733 - 734)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 733:
Narrated As-Saib bin Yazid:
In the life-time of the Prophet, Abu Bakr and Umar, the Adhan for the Jumua prayer used to be pronounced when the Imam sat on the pulpit. But during the Caliphate of 'Uthman when the Muslims increased in number, a third Adhan at Az-Zaura' was added. Abu 'Abdullah said, "Az-Zaura' is a place in the market of Medina."
\
Volume 2, Book 13, Number 734:
Narrated As-Saib bin Yazid:
The person who increased the number of Adhans for the Jumua prayers to three was Uthman bin Affan and it was when the number of the (Muslim) people of Medina had increased. In the life-time of the Prophet there was only one Muadh-dhin and the Adhan used to be pronounced only after the Imam had taken his seat (i.e. on the pulpit).

As to how many Adhaans should actually be called out for the Jumu`ah prayer, go do your own research. You might want to go through this.

Anyhow, there's one Adhan and one Iqamah for the Jumu`ah prayer.
Wassalam.

From Among the Masjid Manners.. (Hadith No. 732)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 732:
Narrated Ibn Juraij:
I heard Nazi' saying, "Ibn Umar, said, 'The Prophet forbade that a man should make another man to get up to sit in his place' ". I said to Nafi', 'Is it for Jumua prayer only?' He replied, "For Jumua prayer and any other (prayer)."

If it only happened in classrooms and other random places, I wouldn't consider it a problem. But it happens in masajid! Wallahi, we are so ignorant of the teachings of Prophet (SAW), we don't even know how to behave in a masjid. In this particular case, we aren't considerate of other people's comfort and ease.
Why do you ask the someone to get up from their place, only to sit there? Is there no other space in the masjid hall where you can sit? Or are you just too concerned about your ease that the other person and their comfort is of least importance to you?

Masjid is a sacred place. Yes, you need to show a particular behavior there. But we get trained through special places, special times and special things only to incorporate that training into our daily lives. For example, this Hadith talks about not making anyone get up from to sit in their place - in a masjid - for prayer. But you must not restrict it to prayer or masjid only. Apply it in your daily routine. Don't make anyone get up to sit in their place - anywhere - for anything, unless it's absolutely necessary. Not in a class, not on a dining table, not in a lounge, not on a couch, not in a public or private place. It's bad manners. The other person does not feel nice, man!

I apologize for the weird way this post has been written. I just did not get the time to think twice while writing.. Mhmm.

Wassalam.

Islam and Domestic servants

One of the bad trait of our social and domestic life is bad behaviour with our servants and subordinates. The economic difference and look after does not give us license to degrade some one. A person will be held accountable before Allah swt if he misbehaves with his employees.

All the sons and daughters of Adam aliehis salam are equal and economic difference does not indicate superiority of one person over the others. If situation and circumstances have made some one weak or poor and we are source of support ,assistance and help for him we should take him/her as our brother and sister .May Allah guide us all to straight path Ameen.

Some important issues related to Inheritance:

Death is the fate of every human being and no one can escape death in any case. Some important issues are raised after the death of a person. One of these issues is the distribution of wealth among the inheritors of the person. Quran and Sunnah has guided us in depth in these matters. Everyone should be well aware of the commands of Allah swt and His Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam in these matters.

First of all let us have a look on the commands of Allah swt regarding this issue as mentioned in Holy Quran :

Allâh commands you as regards your children's (inheritance); to the male, a portion equal to that of two females; if (there are) only daughters, two or more, their share is two thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is half. For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased left brothers or (sisters), the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequeathed or debts. You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children, are nearest to you in benefit, (these fixed shares) are ordained by Allâh. And Allâh is Ever AllKnower, AllWise. In that which your wives leave, your share is a half if they have no child; but if they leave a child, you get a fourth of that which they leave after payment of legacies that they may have bequeathed or debts. In that which you leave, their (your wives) share is a fourth if you leave no child; but if you leave a child, they get an eighth of that which you leave after payment of legacies that you may have bequeathed or debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of lagacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, so that no loss is caused (to anyone). This is a Commandment from Allâh; and Allâh is Ever AllKnowing, MostForbearing. (An-Nisa 4:11-12)

On another instance Allah swt says:

They ask you for a legal verdict. Say: "Allâh directs (thus) about AlKalâlah (those who leave neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs). If it is a man that dies, leaving a sister, but no child, she shall have half the inheritance. If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, her brother takes her inheritance. If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of the inheritance; if there are brothers and sisters, the male will have twice the share of the female. (Thus) does Allâh makes clear to you (His Law) lest you go astray. And Allâh is the All-Knower of everything." (An-Nisa 4:176)

Now it can be concluded from these verses :

1.Wealth should be distributed after paying of debt and fulfilling the will of the deceased
2.Share of father is 1/6th  of the inheritance  if there are children of deceased person
3.Share of mother is 1/6th of the inheritance  if there are children of deceased
4.Share of mother is 1/3rd of the inheritance  if there are no children of deceased provided that deceased has no brothers or sisters
5.Share of mother is 1/6th of the inheritance  if there are are brother and sisters of deceased
6.Share of wife is 1/8th of the inheritance  if there are children of deceased
7.Share of wife is 1/4th of the inheritance if there are no children of deceased
8.Share of husband is 1/4th of the inheritance if there are children ofdeceased
9.Share of husband is ½ of the inheritance if there are no children of deceased
10.If a person has wife but has no ascendant and descendant share of the brother or sister of the deceased is 1/6th .If they are two or more than two they own 1/3rd of the inheritance.
11. If a person has wife but has no ascendant and descendant share of the brother or sister of the deceased is 1/6th .If they are two or more than two they own 1/3rd of the inheritance. Brother has double the share compared to sister if they are two or more than two
12. If a person has no wife and has no ascendant and descendant share of the brother or sister of the deceased is ½ of the inheritance .If they are two or more than two they own 2/3rd of the inheritance. Brother has double the share compared to sister if they are two or more than two
13.Sons have double the share compared to daughters.

An example to distribute wealth in the light of the above mentioned points:

Lets suppose a person leaves an asset having value  of 24X  and leaves parents , one wife , two sons , two daughters, one brother and one sister.
The division of the inheritance will be as follows:

1.Mother will inherit 4x
2.Father will inherit 4x
3.Wife will inherit 3x
The net result of the above mentioned division is 4x+4x+3x=11x
Now the left amount is 24x-11x=13x
Each son will have double share compared to daughters.
So total number of shares=2(for son no 1)+2(for son no 2)+1(for daughter no 1)+1(daughter no 1)
                                               =6
4.Share of each son =2/6=1/3 *13x=13/3x
5.Share of each daughter=1/6*13x=13/6x
6.Brothers and sisters have no share in presence of ascendants and descendants

Some commands related to the will of the deceased:

There are some important points which should be kept in mind while writing a will

No will can be written in favour of an inheritor:

Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam has not allowed to write a will in favour of a legal heir .The hadith mentioned in Jamiah Tirmidhi says:

Narrated Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu : Allah’s Prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam said,

"Allah has Himself given everyone, who has a right, his right. So, there is no will for any inheritor." (Tirmidhi)

Will cannot exceed 1/3rd of the assets:

A man cannot bequest 1/3rd of his total assets because in this way he will deprive legal heirs of their rights.
This fact has been clearly mentioned in the hadith as follow:

Narrated Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqas radi Allahu anhu: "I was stricken by an ailment that led me to the verge of death. The Prophet came to pay me a visit. I said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have much property and no heir except my single daughter. Shall I give two-thirds of my property in charity?" He said, "No." I said, "Half of it?" He said, "No." I said, "One-third of it?" He said, "You may do so, though one-third is also too much, for it is better for you to leave your offspring wealthy than to leave them poor, asking others for help..." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih-Muslim, Muatta, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah.)

A wrong will must be reformed:

If a person writes a wrong will his will should be reformed. For example if he bequests ½ of his assets .Then that will should be reformed to 1/3rd of his assets.
This has been clearly mentioned in the Holy Quran in the following way:
But he who fears from a testator some unjust act or wrong-doing, and thereupon he makes peace between the parties concerned, there shall be no sin on him. Certainly, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Baqarah 2:182)

Tampering of a will is a big sin:

Tampering of a will is a big sin and whosoever tampers a will is  a loser in hereafter.
This fact has been mentioned in Quran in the following way:
Then whoever changes the bequest after hearing it, the sin shall be on those who make the change. Truly, Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah 2:181)
So every one should fear Allah swt and should not make an attempt to change the will of the deceased.
The  last thing related to will is that in the absence of the will all the inheritance must be divided among the legal heirs according to Quran.

Any legal heir cannot claim the share he has forgiven his with his consent:

Any legal heir can forgive his portion or share with his free will and should not claim that share after he/she has forgiven that share .

It has been mentioned in the hadith:

It is related that Ibn 'Abbas radi Allahu anhu  said that the Prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam said, "Someone who takes back a gift is like a dog returning to its own vomit."
(Sahih Bukharee ,Chapter 54,Hadith no 2449)

There are some other intricated issues related to inheritance  which deals with the rare and exceptional situations .An effort has however been made to summarize the important points  related to the inheritance .May Allah swt keep us always on the right path and save us from the traps of Shaitan Ameen.

The Thing About Calmness and Solemnity (Ahadith 729 - 731)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 729:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
heard Allah's Apostles (p.b.u.h) saying, "If the prayer is started do not run for it but just walk for it calmly and pray whatever you get, and complete whatever is missed."

Similar Hadith here.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 730:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatada on the authority of his father:
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Do not stand up (for prayer) unless you see me, and observe calmness and solemnity".

Similar Hadith here.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 731:
Narrated Salman Al-Farsi:
Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Anyone who takes a bath on Friday and cleans himself as much as he can and puts oil (on his hair) or scents himself; and then proceeds for the prayer and does not force his way between two persons (assembled in the mosque for the Friday prayer), and prays as much as is written for him and remains quiet when the Imam delivers the Khutba, all his sins in between the present and the last Friday will be forgiven."

  1. Sacred things and places demand solemnity and calmness. Behave yourselves in mosques! :P
  2. Physical calmness will lead to mental calmness. And/or vice versa. I don't care what their version of inner calmness is (referring to the above image), but it is the prayer you get the real inner calmness from. Give all these 6 things to prayer and see for yourself. For real for real!
  3. There is no number 3.

Take a chill pill, really.
Wassalam.

Extraordinary Dust (Hadith No. 728)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 728:
Narrated Abu 'Abs:
I heard the Prophet saying, "Anyone whose feet are covered with dust in Allah's cause, shall be saved by Allah from the Hell-Fire."

Because you're lucky to even walk towards that (Cause's) path. Because that dust is more than just ordinary earth. Because everything related to Allah's Cause gets an upgrade automatically. Because it can save you from Hell-Fire. Because.. Sigh.

Not stars.
I found this definition of "Allah's Cause" somewhere. It's not official or anything, I just found it interesting, so:
Everything that protects and preserves and propagates Islam and Muslims in every way by any Halal method is Allah's Cause.
And this is something you might like.
Wassalam.

Naat

Naat is a poetic expression of love for Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam which is no doubt an act of reward. This act has been approved by Rasool sal laho aliehi wasalam. On one instance Abu sufyan radi Allahu anhu who was not a Muslim yet refuted prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam in public.Prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam commanded Hassan bin Sabit radi Allahu anhu to refute kafirs .Hassan bin sabit radi Allahu anhu wrote a long heart touching poem to defend Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam and also said that he was seeking reward of this act from Allah swt.Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam said that reward of this poetry was Jannah.

There are three conditions which must be fulfilled while writing and reciting a Naat.A Naat should be written without exaggerating Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam to the level of Allah swt and a reciter of Naat should avoid music while reciting it because prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam was against musical instruments and it is not justified to praise him with these instruments. The third and final condition is that women should not recite it in front of public because it is against Hijab of women to recite something in front of men .May Allah swt give us toufeeq to follow commands of Allah and His messenger in all walks of life Ameen.

Time of Jumu`ah Prayer (Ahadith 725 - 727)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 725:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet used to offer the Jumua prayer immediately after mid-day.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 726:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
We used to offer the Jumua prayer early and then have an afternoon nap.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 727:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet used to offer the prayer earlier if it was very cold; and if it was very hot he used to delay the prayer, i.e. the Jumua prayer.

The time of Jumu`ah is the same as the time for Zuhr salah. It was offered right after noon in Prophet (SAW)'s time.

P.S. you'll notice that companions used to have food and nap after the Jumu`ah prayer. Some really interesting narrations regarding it coming in the next few days inshaAllah. :)

Wassalam.

All sons of Adam are Equal

All the sons and daughters of Adam aliehis salam are equal in status .No one is superior than others due to his wealth, family and office.

Only two things make one superior than others .One is piety and other is knowledge based on Iman. Both of these traits are not inheritance of any particular race, tribe, gender and family.

Any man or woman can be pious and knowledgeable by consistent effort at any age . Once a person gain these noble treasures he/she becomes superior than others . This reality has been mentioned in Holy Quran in the following manners:

1. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Al-Hujurat 49:13).

2. Allâh will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge. And Allâh is Well-Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Mujadilah 58:11)

Steps to avoid Zina

Islam is supporter of modesty and condemns all events leading to immodesty. We should say no to valentine days and should promote all those acts which purify society from adultery and fornication.

Following steps can be taken to avoid zina:

1)Nikah should be done immediately after puberty
2)Muslim youth should be engaged in preaching and education.
3)Musical events and mix gatherings should be discouraged.
4)Co education should be discouraged.
5)Segregation of genders should be maintained at workplace.
6)Healthy field games like shooting, swimming and riding should be promoted.
7)Muslim youth should fast frequently.
8)We should spend idle time in zikar e ilahi and recitation of Quran.
9)Pornography should be controlled in educational and business institutes by administrators and there should be strong parental check on teenagers

polygamy is against women rights.

The Muslim women in Europe and Arab lands do not think that  polygamy is against women rights. Women of subcontinent think it is exploitation of her rights ,this mindset is the result of living with Hindus for centuries.

Women are ready to bear extramarital affairs but they are not ready to accept polygamy .They should think with patience and concentration that by not allowing their husbands to do another marriage they are indirectly pushing them towards adultery. If there are two options

1)Extramarital relations
2)Polygamy

What should be the choice of Muslim sister for her husband.?????

Men should however bear in mind that justice is prerequisite of this relation which must not be sacrificed in any case.

what can we do for our beloved deceased

According to sunnah what can we do for our beloved deceased ????

1) Dua
2) Hajj and Umrah
3) Complete their obligatory fasting
4) Digging well or some other Sadqa e Jariyah
5) Qurbani (Ulemas have different opinions on this issue)

Recitation of Quran , Zikar and Nawafils for deceased is not proved from Sunnah of Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam

Love and obedience are integrated with each other

Love and obedience are integrated with each other. We should love prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam more than any one else .We should prefer his sayings , commands and ways on sayings, commands and ways of others.

He used to fast during month of Ramadan and also fasted on 9th Zilhajj and 10th of Moharram .Similarly he celebrated Eid on 1st of Shawwal and 10th of Zilhajj.

We should keep this reality in mind that he used to fast on Mondays and told that he was fasting on this day for the reason that he was born on Monday. We should try to follow our prophet and should not try to bypass his ways while we claim to be his lovers.

Why Ghusl Was Mandatory Back Then.. (Ahadith 723 - 724)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Hadith no. 722 is a repeat. Read it here.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 723:
Narrated Aisha:
(the wife of the Prophet) The people used to come from their abodes and from Al-'Awali (i.e. outskirts of Medina up to a distance of four miles or more from Medina). They used to pass through dust and used to be drenched with sweat and covered with dust; so sweat used to trickle from them. One of them came to Allah's Apostle who was in my house. The Prophet said to him, "I wish that you keep yourself clean on this day of yours (i.e. take a bath)."

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 724:
Narrated Yahya bin Said:
I asked 'Amra about taking a bath on Fridays. She replied, " Aisha said, 'The people used to work (for their livelihood) and whenever they went for the Jumua prayer, they used to go to the mosque in the same shape as they had been in work. So they were asked to take a bath on Friday.' "

Read more on it here.

CLEANLINESS people!

Proper Islamic marriage

There are two obligatory condition for proper Islamic marriage.

1) Permission of guardians.
2) Consent of Bride

Guardians cannot force their girl for marriage , similarly a girl cannot marry without the consent of wali. The marriages donewithout consent of guardians and approval of bride are illegal according to Islam.

There are three exceptions to condition of guardianship.

1)Revert Muslim women
2)Divorced women
3)Widowed women

These three types of women have right to decide about their future and their guardians cannot bound them.

Lying

Lying is a very bad habit which must be avoided. Many people tell lies without any sound reason and do not take it as a sin .

Some people tell lies just for the sake of joke and think that they have done a great job where as some other tell lies to sell the things and take it as a tool of trade where as another group tell lies to cheat the people and they are happy by making people fool.

All these people should bear in mind that lying is a big sin ad has been condemned by Allah and His Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam. On one instance Rasool salal laho aliehi wasalam said:

Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person.Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar.(Sahih Bukhari :Volume 8, Book 73, Hadith 116).

May Allah swt save us from telling lies and give us taufeeq to say truth Ameen.
