Do not talk without proof and do not believe in rumours

ALLAMA IBTISAM ELAHI ZAHEER SAID:

We are not allowed to talk about any person or group without solid proof and should not believe in rumors as mentioned in Holy Quran in the following verses :

1) O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person comes to you with a news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done. (Al-Hujurat 49:6)

2)O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful. (Al-Hujurat 49:12)

We must be just in our opinions even about our enemies and our rivalry should not lead us to injustice as mentioned in Holy Quran :

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allâh and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is Well¬Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Ma'idah 5:8)

Similarly we should be able to determine our flaws and weakness and our ego, love associations ,relations and affiliations should not be an obstacle in our way to say what is right. We should be able to overcome our biases .This fact has been revealed in the Holy Quran in the following way:

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allâh, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allâh is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allâh is Ever Well¬Acquainted with what you do. (An-Nisa 4:135)

Prophat Muhammad said: "Allaah has forgiven my ummah for whatever crosses their mind so long as they do not speak of it or act upon it."

In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Allaah has forgiven my ummah for whatever crosses their mind so long as they do not speak of it or act upon it.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2528) and Muslim (127).

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said commenting on this hadeeth:
Whatever crosses a person’s mind, so long as he does not dwell on it or continue to think of it, he is forgiven for it, according to scholarly consensus, because it does not happen voluntarily and he has no way of avoiding it.

Al-Adhkaar (p. 345).
