Dhikr After Salah - 2 (Hadith No. 805)

Salam,
Bismillah.

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 805:
Narrated Warrad (the clerk of Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba):
Once Al-Mughira dictated to me in a letter addressed to Mu'awiya that the Prophet used to say after every compulsory prayer, "La ilaha ilallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa-lahul-hamdu, wahuwa ala kulli shai in qadir. Allahumma la mani 'a lima a'taita, wa la mu'tiya lima mana'ta, wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi minka-l-jadd. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and He has no partner in Lordship or in worship or in the Names and the Qualities, and for Him is the Kingdom and all the praises are for Him and He is omnipotent. O Allah! Nobody can hold back what you give and nobody can give what You hold back. Hard (efforts by anyone for anything cannot benefit one against Your Will)." And Al-Hasan said, "Al-jadd means prosperity."

It's a beautful du`a indeed. Believe it or not, I needed this reminder today! SubhanAllah. <3
Don't forget to recite it after every compulsory Salah. If you don't know it by heart, learn it! For starters, write it down on a piece of paper and put it near your praying place. Or just get a du`a book and read it out from there. If you make it a habit and do it constantly, you'll automatically learn it inshaAllah, because our brains are cool like that. :)

Wassalam.

Dhikr after Salah - 1 (Hadith No. 804)

Salam,
Bismillah.

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 804:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Some poor people came to the Prophet and said, "The wealthy people will get higher grades and will have permanent enjoyment and they pray like us and fast as we do. They have more money by which they perform the Hajj, and 'Umra; fight and struggle in Allah's Cause and give in charity." The Prophet said, "Shall I not tell you a thing upon which if you acted you would catch up with those who have surpassed you? Nobody would overtake you and you would be better than the people amongst whom you live except those who would do the same. Say "Sub-han-al-lah", "Alhamdu-lillah" and "Allahu Akbar" thirty three times each after every (compulsory) prayer." We differed and some of us said that we should say, "Subhan-al-lah" thirty three times and "Alhamdu lillah" thirty three times and "Allahu Akbar" thirty four times. I went to the Prophet who said, "Say, "Subhan-al-lah" and "Alhamdu lillah" and "Allahu Akbar" all together for thirty three times."

Sunnah: say takbir 33 or 34 times, tahmeed 33 times, and tasbeeh 33 times after every compulsory Salah.
It's something you can do in about a minute, and gain reward equal to those who perform Hajj and Umrah, fight in Allah's Cause, and give in charity. Won't you do it then? :)

Wassalam.

Overcome Your Problems By Being Grateful

By Allama Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer

Allah swt has blessed human beings with countless blessings. He has made many arrangements to fulfill all the physical and spiritual needs of His creation. He created vegetables and fruits to provide food to human beings .Similarly he created sunlight so that human beings can do work during day time and created night for our rest and sleep. He blessed us with homes and families so that we can easily pass our time.He generated many different professions for us so that we can grow according to our abilities and choice. He created different colours to please our sights and created different flavors to soothe our taste buds.In the same way He raised prophets and revealed books to guide humanity to right path and clearly mentioned the right and wrong path. After all these favours and blessings What was His demand? it was demanded by Allah swt in Quran:

Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me. (Al-Baqarah 2:152)

It is unlucky that we do not care about the demand of Allah swt and totally ignore the blessings of Allah swt and follow our desires without thinking that our desires are right or wrong .We never care that we are doing halal or haram. We forget that our desires are making us weak and vulnerable and we are being surrounded by problems and crisis in our lives .We think that we are facing these problems by chance where as the real reason is that our ungratefulness is inviting wrath of Allah swt .Allah swt clearly says in Holy Quran:

If you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe." (Ibrahim 14:7)

How can we overcome all the problems.Allah swt has mentioned many solutions to resolve our problems in the Holy Quran and one solution is that we should be thankful to Allah swt. If we will be grateful the result is obvious

And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allâh), I will give you more (of My Blessings), (Ibrahim 14:7)

Allah swt never punishes the person who is thankful and acknowledges the blessing of Allah swt on Him .This reality has been mentioned in Holy Quran

Why should Allâh punish you if you have thanked (Him) and have believed in Him. And Allâh is Ever All¬Appreciative (of good), All¬Knowing. (An-Nisa 4:147)

It is obvious from above discussion that a simple way to overcome our problems is to be grateful to Allahswt for His favour and blessings .There are three stages of being thankful

1 By heart

2 By tongue

3 By action

By heart means that we should be thankful to Allah swt from the depth our heart for all His favours and blessing on us and we should have feelings of satisfaction and contentment in our heart and there should be no signs of dissatisfaction and anxiety in us.

By tongue means that we should say Alhamdolillah and praise Allah swt for the blessings He has bestowed on us as Allah has said in Holy Quran :

And proclaim the Grace of your Lord . (Ad-Duha 93:11)

By action means that our actions should reflect our feelings .We should not waste his blessings .We should use our abilities ,energies and resources in right and Halal direction and avoid and abstain from wrong and haram direction. We should submit our body, intellect and wealth before Him.

May Allah swt make us grateful and save us from being unthankful ameen

THE VIRTUE OF THE END OF SURAT AL-BAQARAH

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:152-153

Muhsin Khan-Translation

Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.

Tafsir al-Jalalayn
So remember Me, through prayer, glorification and the like, I will remember you: this is said to mean, ‘I will reward you’; in a hadīth about God [that He says]: ‘whoever remembers Me in himself, I will remember him in Myself, and whoever remembers Me in an assembly, I will remember him in an Assembly more excellent than his’; and be thankful to Me, for My grace, by being obedient, and be not ungrateful towards Me, through disobedience.

Muhsin Khan-Transaltion

O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).

Tafsir al-Jalalayn

O you who believe, seek help, regarding the Hereafter, through patience, in obedience and afflictions, and prayer (He singles it out for mention on account of its frequency and its greatness); surely God is with the patient, helping them.

THE VIRTUE OF THE END OF SURAT AL-BAQARAH

(26) The Messenger of Allah (A) said:

"Whosoever reads the last two verses from Surat Al-Baqarah, in a night, (then that will be) sufficient 2   for him." (Reported by Bukhari and Muslim)

2- Meaning it will grant him the reward of night prayer in reciting the Qur’aan. It was said that it meant that it would be sufficient for him (in protection) from all calamities. It was said that it would be sufficient for him from the evil of the devils. And it was said that they (i.e. the recitation of the two verses) would drive the evil of mankind and the devils away from him

THE VIRTUE OF SURAT  AL-FATIHAH AND THE END OF SURAT AL-BAQARAH

From Ibn 'Abbas " who said:

"While Jibra'eel (Gibrael) " `May Peace be upon him' was sitting with the Prophet !, he heard the opening of a gate above him. So he raised his head and said: `This is a gate from the shies that has opened today, which has never opened before this day.' So an angel descended from it (the gate). So he Jibra'eel " said: "This is an angel that has descended to the earth, which has never descended except today. He gave Salam and said: 'Receive glad tidings [Oh Muhammad! with two lights which have been given to you, that have never been given to a Prophet before you: The Opening of the Book (i.e. Surat Al-Fatihah) and the end of Surat Al-Baqarah. Never do you read a letter from either of the two (Surahs) except that you are given it.3

[Reported by Muslim]

3- Which means that you are given its reward (i.e. the reward of recitation)" Taken from Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim with Shaykh AI-Albani's editing, p.553, Hadith no.2094.

(Whoever recites the last two Ayat in Surat Al-Baqarah at night , they will suf f ice for him. ) The rest of the six also recorded similar wording for this Hadith. The Two Sahihs recorded this Hadith using various chains of narration, and Imam Ahmad also recorded it . Muslim recorded that ` Abdullah said, "When the Messenger of Allah went on the Isra journey, he ascended to the Sidrat Al-Muntaha in the sixth heaven, where whatever ascends from the earth ends at , and whatever descends from above it ends at .

(When that covered the lote t ree which did cover it !) _ 53:16_ meaning, a mat made of gold. The Messenger of Allah was then given three things: the f ive prayers, the last Ayat in Surat Al- Baqarah and forgiveness for whoever did not associate anything or anyone with Allah f rom his Ummah. ''

Earlier we mentioned the Hadith regarding the virtues of Surat Al-Fat ihah f rom Ibn ` Abbas which stated, "While the Messenger of Allah was with Jibil, he heard a noise f rom above. Jibil lifted his sight to the sky and said, ` This is a door that was opened j ust now in heaven, and it was never opened before. ' An angel came down through the door to the Prophet and said,`Receive the good news of two lights that you have been given and which no Prophet before you was given: the Opener of the Book (Al-Fat ihah) and the last Ayat in Surat Al-Baqarah. You will not read a let ter of them, but you will be granted its benef it . '''
