Madinah towards the End (Hadith No. 1593)

Hadith no. 1592 (below) is a repeat. Read it here.
Volume 3, Book 30, Number 97:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu):
If I saw deers grazing in Medina, I would not chase them, for Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "(Medina) is a sanctuary between its two mountains."
Today's Hadith:
Volume 3, Book 30, Number 98:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu):
I heard Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) saying, "The people will leave Medina in spite of the best state it will have, and none except the wild birds and the beasts of prey will live in it, and the last persons who will die will be two shepherds from the tribe of Muzaina, who will be driving their sheep towards Medina, but will find nobody in it, and when they reach the valley of Thaniyat-al-Wada', they will fall down on their faces dead."
Yet to be seen.. though it seems highly unlikely. And what an awful sight it would be to see Madinah empty! I wonder what would prompt people to leave this sanctuary.. the beloved city of the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam), for which he invoked barakah in its mudd and sa' (measuring units); the place where nothing but peace and serenity is to be found.. I wonder why its residents would prefer any other piece of land over it.
I hope I don't live to see this time for it will be extremely saddening to hear such news. May Allah keep our hearts firm on Deen. :(

When Hajj will be Abandoned.. (Hadith No. 1363)


Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 663:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (radiallaahu `anhu): The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said "The people will continue performing the Hajj and 'Umra to the Ka'ba even after the appearance of Gog and Magog."
Narrated Shu'ba extra: The Hour (Day of Judgment) will not be established till the Hajj (to the Ka'ba) is abandoned.
Yes, there will come a time when no righteous people will remain on Earth (they'll die due tot he wind that Allah will send after Gog and Magog's wipe-out). Therefore no Hajj, and Qiyamah will be brought upon the evil ones. May Allah save us from seeing that time!

Ka`bah to be Demolished Once More (Hadith No. 1361)


Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 661:
Narrated Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "Dhus-Suwaiqa-tain (literally: One with two lean legs) from Ethiopia will demolish the Ka'ba."
This Hadith talks about the end of times, when people will have forgotten the Quran altogether, and there'll be no khayr (good) on Earth. The time when Ka`bah will also be removed from Earth, as it is also 'good'. Black/Ethiopian people will rise to power and it'll be one among them who'll demolish the Ka`bah. And Allah knows best.

Day of Judgement - Disgrace, Sweat and Intercession (Hadith No. 1212)


Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 24, Number 553:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "A man keeps on asking others for something till he comes on the Day of Resurrection without any piece of flesh on his face." The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) added, "On the Day of Resurrection, the Sun will come near (to, the people) to such an extent that the sweat will reach up to the middle of the ears, so, when all the people are in that state, they will ask Adam (`alayhissalaam) for help, and then Moses (`alayhissalaam), and then Muhammad (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)." The sub-narrator added "Muhammad (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) will intercede with Allah to judge amongst the people. He will proceed on till he will hold the ring of the door (of Paradise) and then Allah will exalt him to Maqam Mahmud (the privilege of intercession, etc.). And all the people of the gathering will send their praises to Allah.
This man used to ask of people a lot, even when he was not in need. It's something undignified. One's self-respect should keep him from stooping to such a level. So when this person will be brought on the Day of Judgement, his face will be without flesh. It's to show disgrace and disrespect. If he didn't practice self-respect in his life in this world, he shall not have it on that day either. Like sin, like punishment.
Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) warns about the Day of Judgement, when the Sun will be so near that people will sweat like crazy. Imagine someone (literally) drowning in his sweat, his sweat reaching up to the middle of his ears. One drop of sweat trickles down my forehead in this world's summer where the Sun is situated thousands of miles away, and it makes me feel so agitated. I wonder how it would feel to be sweating so profusely that day. May Allah save us from it and give us a place under His Shade on the Day of Judgement.

Another Trait of Hypocrisy (Hadith No. 1195)


Bismillah.
Narrated Abu Masud:
When the verses of charity were revealed, we used to work as porters. A man came and distributed objects of charity in abundance. And they (the people) said, "He is showing off." And another man came and gave a sa' (a small measure of food grains); they said, "Allah is not in need of this small amount of charity." And then the Divine Inspiration came: "Those who criticize such of the believers who give in charity voluntarily and those who could not find to give in charity except what is available to them." (9.79).
From Tafsir Ibn Kathir:
Among the traits of the hypocrites is that they will not leave anyone without defaming and ridiculing him in all circumstances even those who give away charity. If, for instance, someone gives away a large amount, the hypocrites say that he is showing off. If someone gives away a small amount they say that Allah stands not in need of this man's charity. Al-Bukhari recorded that `Ubaydullah bin Sa`id said that Abu An-Nu`man Al-Basri said that Shu`bah narrated that Sulayman said that Abu Wa'il said that Abu Mas`ud said, "When the verses of charity were revealed, we used to work as porters. A man came and distributed objects of charity in abundance and they (hypocrites) said, `He is showing off.' Another man came and gave a Sa` (a small measure of food grains); they said, `Allah is not in need of this small amount of charity.' Then the Ayah was revealed;

﴿الَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ الْمُطَّوِّعِينَ﴾

(Those who defame the volunteers...)'' Muslim collected this Hadith in the Sahih. Al-`Awfi narrated that Ibn `Abbas said, "One day, the Messenger of Allah went out to the people and called them to bring forth their charity, and they started bringing their charity. Among the last to come forth was a man who brought a Sa` of dates, saying, `O Allah's Messenger! This is a Sa` of dates. I spent the night bringing water and earned two Sa` of dates for my work. I kept one Sa` and brought you the other Sa`. ' The Messenger of Allah ordered him to add it to the charity. Some men mocked that man, saying, `Allah and His Messenger are not in need of this charity. What benefit would this Sa` of yours bring' `Abdur-Rahman bin `Awf asked Allah's Messenger , `Are there any more people who give charity' The Messenger of Allah said,

«لَمْ يَبْقَ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُك»

(None besides you!) `Abdur-Rahman bin `Awf said, `I will give a hundred Uqiyah of gold as a charity.' `Umar bin Al-Khattab said to him, `Are you crazy' `Abdur-Rahman said, `I am not crazy.' `Umar said, `Have you given what you said would give' `Abdur-Rahman said, `Yes. I have eight thousand (Dirhams), four thousand I give as a loan to my Lord and four thousand I keep for myself.' The Messenger of Allah said,

«بَارَكَ اللهُ لَكَ فِيمَا أَمْسَكْتَ وَفِيمَا أَعْطَيْت»

(May Allah bless you for what you kept and what you gave away). However, the hypocrites defamed him, `By Allah! `Abdur-Rahman gave what he gave just to show off.' They lied, for `Abdur-Rahman willingly gave that money, and Allah revealed about his innocence and the innocence of the fellow who was poor and brought only a Sa` of dates. Allah said in His Book,

﴿الَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ الْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الصَّدَقَـتِ﴾

(Those who defame such of the believers who give charity voluntarily) ﴿9:79﴾.''' A similar story was narrated from Mujahid and several others. Ibn Ishaq said, "Among the believers who gave away charity were `Abdur-Rahman bin `Awf who gave four thousand Dirhams and `Asim bin `Adi from Bani `Ajlan. This occurred after the Messenger of Allah encouraged and called for paying charity. `Abdur-Rahman bin `Awf stood and gave away four thousand Dirhams. `Asim bin `Adi also stood and gave a hundred Wasaq of dates, but some people defamed them, saying, `They are showing off.' As for the person who gave the little that he could afford, he was Abu `Aqil, from Bani Anif Al-Arashi, who was an ally of Bani `Amr bin `Awf. He brought a Sa` of dates and added it to the charity. They laughed at him, saying, `Allah does not need the Sa` of Abu `Aqil.''' Allah said,

﴿فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ سَخِرَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُمْ﴾

(so they mock at them (believers); Allah will throw back their mockery on them) rebuking them for their evil actions and defaming the believers. Truly, the reward, or punishment, is equitable to the action. Allah treated them the way mocked people are treated, to aid the believers in this life. Allah has prepared a painful torment in the Hereafter for the hypocrites, for the recompense is similar to the deed.
Do you see the kind of behavior hypocrites had shown? Belittling, defaming and ridiculing others as if they knew what was in their hearts. As if they knew their intentions to be insincere.
It's a HUGE thing to judge someone. It is so disliked by Allah that He revealed verses in the Qur'an for it, protecting the honor of the Sahaba who has spent in His way. He dislikes this trait of hypocrisy so much that he forbade Prophet (SAW) from asking forgiveness for the hypocrites, right in the next verse:

﴿اسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لاَ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ إِن تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً فَلَن يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَاللَّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَـسِقِينَ ﴾

(80. Whether you (O Muhammad ) ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them -- (and even) if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness -- Allah will not forgive them because they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger. And Allah guides not those people who are rebellious.)
Bottom line: don't judge people. Don't try to defame anyone. Especially the believers. You don't know how beloved that person is to Allah. And if you hurt them, Allah might protect them.
Note: if you think you have this trait, try to fix it. Think good about people. Make 70 excuses for them before thinking bad about them. "Maybe he didn't mean to..", "Maybe he didn't know.." etc. Reflect on your own faults and flaws before looking at others'.
And if you think someone you know has this problem. Stop right there! You're being judgmental again. :P

How Do You Know? (Ahadith 1033 - 1034)

Volume 2, Book 23, Number 334:
Narrated Kharija bin Zaid bin Thabit:
Um Al-'Ala', an Ansari woman who gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet said to me, "The emigrants were distributed amongst us by drawing lots and we got in our share 'Uthman bin Maz'un. We made him stay with us in our house. Then he suffered from a disease which proved fatal. When he died and was given a bath and was shrouded in his clothes, Allah's Apostle came. I said, 'May Allah be merciful to you, O Abu As-Sa'ib! I testify that Allah has honored you'. The Prophet said, 'How do you know that Allah has honored him?' I replied, 'O Allah's Apostle! Let my father be sacrificed for you! On whom else shall Allah bestow His honor?' The Prophet said, 'No doubt, death came to him. By Allah, I too wish him good, but by Allah, I do not know what Allah will do with me though I am Allah's Apostle.' By Allah, I never attested the piety of anyone after that."
Volume 2, Book 23, Number 335:
Narrated Al-Laith as above.
No matter how pious or evil a person was, no matter which circumstances they died in, no matter what, we can not judge their end result. We can not say if Allah is pleased with them or not. We can not say if they'll go to Paradise or not. We can not say anything. So be careful.
Saying someone is pious and righteous is one thing. But saying that they'll definitely enter Paradise because of their piety is another. Get it? The latter behavior is discouraged. Because. We. Don't Know.

Whatever Happened to "Time"? (Hadith No. 845)


Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.
Volume 2, Book 17, Number 845:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "The Hour (Last Day) will not be established until (religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious learned men), earthquakes will be very frequent, time will pass quickly, afflictions will appear, murders will increase and money will overflow amongst you."

Brothers and sisters, this is no funny business. The Day of Judgement isn't far away. We see the predictions coming true.

Knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious learned men) - check.
Earthquakes will be frequent - check.
Time will pass quickly - a big bold check.
Afflictions will appear - check.
Murders will increase - check.
Money will overflow amongst you - check.

Talking about time. Isn't it like so true? It goes by like anything. Even faster than sand slipping from one's hands! What happened? It wasn't like this in the old days, when we'd play for hours in summer afternoons and it'd seem that the day will go on forever. (Ahhh, those were the days!)

You know what the problem is? It's lack of 'barakah' in our time. Barakah does not necessarily mean having plenty of something. It means that even less would suffice. That you'd be able to do more in less time.

Why has the barakah been taken out of our lives and times? Because, ahem, we tend to sleep after Fajr. :P
Now I know many will say there's nothing wrong with that, and if one wakes up for tahajjud at night, or is up late studying, then they need to sleep at that time. Okay. Okay. Let's see..

One of my friends told me the other day that she studies/works all day, sleeps around 10, and still can't stay up after Fajr. And this is what I told her: you need to take a nap during the day, sleep right after `Ishaa', and do the studying/working after Fajr. Because that's the best time to do it. Because that's the time where you can find barakah! Because that's when you'll see that you're able to study more in less time. True story. I've experienced it myself, so no one is allowed to deny me. e_e

Abu Productive says in "Sources of Barakah":
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "Allah made the early hours blessed for my Ummah".
This hadeeth was the reason for me to start ProductiveMuslim.com! Such gems of productivity are actually sources of blessings that we should seek to make our life productive. Waking up early is such an important part of being blessed and feeling blessed throughout your day.Try to wake up for tahajjud, pray, and then work during the hours before fajr salaat and tahajjud. If you can't, then at least wake up for fajr and stay up till sunrise before you go back to sleep. Those hours are so blessed. If you're able to go to work in those hours, do so, you'll get much more work done than the whole day put together!

Tips for Barakah in Time: Pray Fajr in the Masjid then get down to work. Do not sleep after Fajr as that time has barakah in it.
The secret to a productive day is taking advantage of the times that Allah (swt) put barakah (blessing) in. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that there is barakah in the early hours of the morning. By spending the hour before fajr in prayer, recitation of Qur’an, and in the remembrance of Allah, you will get the spiritual nourishment your body requires for that day. Just like we need to eat breakfast every morning to give us energy, the spiritual nourishment our body needs is equally important. Without it, we will not have much barakah in our time and we will find ourselves getting tired easily and not being very productive. 

Additionally, having suhoor (pre-dawn meal) gives us barakah. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Have suhoor, for in suhoor there is barakah.”
[Bukhari]

Make sure you wake up every morning before fajr, pray at least two rak’aat, make some du’a (supplication), read a bit of Qur’an, and have a bite to eat (even if it’s just a few dates). If you try this, I guarantee you, with Allah’s will, that one hour in which you deprive yourself of sleep for Allah’s sake will grant you so much barakah that day. You’ll find that you will finish your work early and still have plenty of time on your hands for your ibaadat.

One of the BEST Ahadith so far! (Hadith No. 770)

Bismillah.
This is the kind of Hadith that makes you cry and smile at the same time. I absolutely love it. [I just saw the hearts and stars that I drew around it in my physical Bukhari back when I was studying it in a course. Such love!]

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 770:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?" He replied, "Do you have any doubt in seeing the full moon on a clear (not cloudy) night?" They replied, "No, O Allah's Apostle!" He said, "Do you have any doubt in seeing the sun when there are no clouds?" They replied in the negative. He said, "You will see Allah (your Lord) in the same way. On the Day of Resurrection, people will be gathered and He will order the people to follow what they used to worship. So some of them will follow the sun, some will follow the moon, and some will follow other deities; and only this nation (Muslims) will be left with its hypocrites. Allah will come to them and say, 'I am Your Lord.' They will say, 'We shall stay in this place till our Lord comes to us and when our Lord will come, we will recognize Him. Then Allah will come to them again and say, 'I am your Lord.' They will say, 'You are our Lord.' Allah will call them, and As-Sirat (a bridge) will be laid across Hell and I (Muhammad) shall be the first amongst the Apostles to cross it with my followers. Nobody except the Apostles will then be able to speak and they will be saying then, 'O Allah! Save us. O Allah! Save us.'

There will be hooks like the thorns of Sa'dan in Hell. Have you seen the thorns of Sa'dan?" The people said, "Yes." He said, "These hooks will be like the thorns of Sa'dan but nobody except Allah knows their greatness in size and these will entangle the people according to their deeds; some of them will fall and stay in Hell forever; others will receive punishment (torn into small pieces) and will get out of Hell, till when Allah intends mercy on whomever He likes amongst the people of Hell, He will order the angels to take out of Hell those who worshipped none but Him alone. The angels will take them out by recognizing them from the traces of prostrations, for Allah has forbidden the (Hell) fire to eat away those traces. So they will come out of the Fire, it will eat away from the whole of the human body except the marks of the prostrations. At that time they will come out of the Fire as mere skeletons. The Water of Life will be poured on them and as a result they will grow like the seeds growing on the bank of flowing water. Then when Allah had finished from the Judgments amongst his creations, one man will be left between Hell and Paradise and he will be the last man from the people of Hell to enter paradise. He will be facing Hell, and will say, 'O Allah! Turn my face from the fire as its wind has dried me and its steam has burnt me.' Allah will ask him, "Will you ask for anything more in case this favor is granted to you?' He will say, "No by Your (Honor) Power!" And he will give to his Lord (Allah) what he will of the pledges and the covenants. Allah will then turn his face from the Fire. When he will face Paradise and will see its charm, he will remain quiet as long as Allah will. He then will say, 'O my Lord! Let me go to the gate of Paradise.' Allah will ask him, 'Didn't you give pledges and make covenants (to the effect) that you would not ask for anything more than what you requested at first?' He will say, 'O my Lord! Do not make me the most wretched, amongst Your creatures.' Allah will say, 'If this request is granted, will you then ask for anything else?' He will say, 'No! By Your Power! I shall not ask for anything else.' Then he will give to his Lord what He will of the pledges and the covenants. Allah will then let him go to the gate of Paradise. On reaching then and seeing its life, charm, and pleasure, he will remain quiet as long as Allah wills and then will say, 'O my Lord ! Let me enter Paradise.' Allah will say, May Allah be merciful unto you, O son of Adam! How treacherous you are! Haven't you made covenants and given pledges that you will not ask for anything more than what you have been given?' He will say, 'O my Lord! Do not make me the most wretched amongst Your creatures.' So Allah will laugh and allow him to enter Paradise and will ask him to request as much as he likes. He will do so till all his desires have been fulfilled . Then Allah will say, 'Request more of such and such things.' Allah will remind him and when all his desires and wishes; have been fulfilled, Allah will say "All this is granted to you and a similar amount besides." Abu Said Al-Khudri, said to Abu Huraira, 'Allah's Apostle said, "Allah will say, 'That is for you and ten times more like it.' "Abu Huraira said, "I do not remember from Allah's Apostle except (his saying), 'All this is granted to you and a similar amount besides." Abu Sahd said, "I heard him saying, 'That is for you and ten times more the like of it."

 I'm speechless here. Word-less, actually. Shall one wonder about the beauty of the moment when Allah will show Himself; or seek His protection against the horror of the Day of Judgement; or crave for the immense Mercy of Allah (SWT) that He blesses His slaves with; or ask of His Bounty and Pleasure in this life and the hereafter?
All of the above, I guess? (Duh!)

The Lucky Seven (Hadith No. 629)

Volume 1, Book 11, Number 629:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "Allah will give shade to seven on the Day when there will be no shade but His. (These seven persons are) a just ruler, a youth who has been brought up in the worship of Allah (i.e. worships Allah sincerely from childhood), a man whose heart is attached to the mosques (i.e. to pray the compulsory prayers in the mosque in congregation), two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only, a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah, a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity), and a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears."

 I can't help but say, I love this Hadith. Whenever I read it, I try to find the category that I fit in. You have to find one, wait, more than one categories for yourself as well! After all, we'll desperately need a shade on the day when there will be no shade but His. :(
A just ruler: it doesn't have to be a king or a president only. Everyone in their own circle is a ruler according to another Hadith of the Prophet (SAW). You're a ruler/leader if you're a mother/father/brother/sister/head of an organization/Imam of a masjid/pet owner/friend etc. Each one of us is a leader/ruler and we all have responsibilities. It's up to us if we do justice to those under us or not. Do we fit in this category or not?
A youth who has been brought up in the worship of Allah: YOU! You're young. You have energy, time, skills, health and the good life. You can be under His shade on the Day of Judgement. All you have to do is worship Allah sincerely. NOW! Not later, when you get older and weaker. Now is the time. The time you have is precious. Spend it in Allah's worship. Obey Him. Please Him. Love Him. He'll value it. He'll reward you for it. And no one can give you a better return than His.
A man whose heart is attached to the mosques: a man who loves going to the masjid to pray. He does not find it hard to leave all his important work for Allah's sake. He spends time in the masjid. He prays Salah, he recites Qur'an, he remembers Allah (dhikr), he socializes with fellow Muslims, he seeks knowledge and he indulges in other religious activities. He loves it all. His heart is attached to the mosques/masajid (places where people bow down/make sujood to Allah).
Two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only:  this one initially seemed the easiest to me, but actually it's quite hard. Despite all our efforts, I don't remember a gathering where I met people only for Allah's sake and His cause, and where nothing went wrong. Where we didn't backbite/cheat/lie/ignore a Sunnah/waste time in laghw.It's not easy to meet people for Allah's sake. But to make sure all you do is please Allah in that meeting and part with His cause as well, it's really hard. (Any tips for me?)
May Allah forgive our shortcomings and accept all our efforts and meetings for His sake.
A man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah: what a man that'd be! Remember Yusuf (AS)? Yeah, he had the taqwa. And with Allah's help, he rejected the beautiful wife of 'Aziz. Reference: Surah Yusuf.
Anyhow, it's quite easy to indulge in haraam these days. Equally for men and for women. It always starts with a small step. All women don't come on strong like Aziz's wife. Neither do men. So beware of that first glance.
A man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given: secret charity, only for Allah's sake. Not to show off or anything. And the level of secrecy is clear enough by the phrase used in the Hadith.
A person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears: he whispers to Allah in seclusion. He prays for forgiveness. He repents over his mistakes and sins. He begs for His Mercy. He hopes for Paradise. His heart fills with Allah's love. His eyes flood with tears on remembering Him.
Do you do it often? If not, you should. It's only the best feeling in the world.
