One Cute Incident (Ahadith 1744 - 1745)

Bismillah.
Volume 3, Book 33, Number 249:
Narrated 'Amra:
Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) said, "the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) used to practice Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan and I used to pitch a tent for him, and after offering the morning prayer, he used to enter the tent." Hafsa (radiallaahu `anhaa) asked the permission of 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) to pitch a tent for her and she allowed her and she pitched her tent. When Zainab bint Jahsh (radiallaahu `anhaa) saw it, she pitched another tent. In the morning the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) noticed the tents. He said, 'What is this?" He was told of the whole situation. Then the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "Do you think that they intended to do righteousness by doing this?" He therefore abandoned the Itikaf in that month and practiced Itikaf for ten days in the month of Shawwal."

Volume 3, Book 33, Number 250:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) intended to practice Itikaf and when he reached the place where he intended to perform Itikaf, he saw some tents, the tents of 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa), Hafsa (radiallaahu `anhaa) and Zainab (radiallaahu `anhaa). So, he said, "Do you consider that they intended to do righteousness by doing this?" And then he went away and did not perform Itikaf (in Ramadan) but performed it in the month of Shawwal for ten days.
Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) feared that the wives' intentions might be inclined more towards pleasing him rather than pleasing Allah, so he abandoned I`tikaaf to discourage such behavior. Aren't wives (Mothers of the Believers, and wives in general) so cute? :)

Intimacy during Fasting (Ahadith 1644 - 1648)

Bismillah.
Volume 3, Book 31, Number 149:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) used to kiss and embrace (his wives) while he was fasting, and he had more power to control his desires than any of you. Said Jabir, "The person who gets discharge after casting a look (on his wife) should complete his fast."

Volume 3, Book 31, Number 150:
Narrated Hisham's father:
Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) said, "Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) used to kiss some of his wives while he was fasting," and then she smiled.

Volume 3, Book 31, Number 151:
Narrated Zainab (daughter of Um Salama) (radiallaahu `anhaa) that her mother said, "While I was (lying) with Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) underneath a woolen sheet, I got the menstruation, and then slipped away and put on the clothes (which I used to wear) in menses. He asked, "What is the matter? Did you get your menses?" I replied in the affirmative and then entered underneath that woolen sheet. I and Allah's Apostle used to take a bath from one water pot and he used to kiss me while he was fasting."

Volume 3, Book 31, Number 152:
Narrated 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa):
(At times) in Ramadan the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) used to take a bath in the morning not because of a wet dream and would continue his fast.

Volume 3, Book 31, Number 153:
Narrated Abu Bakr bin 'Abdur-Rahman:
My father and I went to 'Aisha (radiallaahu `anhaa) and she said, "I testify that Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) at times used to get up in the morning in a state of Janaba from sexual intercourse, not from a wet dream and then he would fast that day." Then he went to Um Salama (radiallaahu `anhaa) and she also narrated a similar thing.
The Muslim has to protect his fast from things that may invalidate it, and he has to seek reward by giving up his desires for food, drink and intercourse, as Allaah says in the hadeeth qudsi concerning the virtues of fasting: “He gives up his food, his drink and his physical desires for My sake.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-Sawm, 1761). But if he can control himself and not slip into that which would cause his fast to be invalidated, by the emission of maniy (semen) or by having intercourse, or would make his fast imperfect by the emission of madhiy (prostatic fluid), then it is permissible for him to embrace his wife in this case, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fondle ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) but he used to control his desire.
Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz said:
A man may kiss, embrace and touch his wife, without having intercourse, when he is fasting. This is permissible and there is nothing wrong with it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to kiss and touch his wives when he was fasting. But if there is the fear that he may do something that Allaah has forbidden because his desire is aroused quickly, then it is makrooh for him to do that. If he ejaculates he still should not eat or drink for the rest of the day, and he has to make up the fast, but he does not have to offer kafaarah (expiation) according to the majority of the scholars. But madhiy (prostatic fluid) does not invalidate the fast, according to the more correct of the two scholarly views, because the basic principle is that the fast remains valid, and because it is too difficult to avoid. And Allaah is the Source of strength.

Giving Preference to Others (Ahadith 1580 - 1581)

Bismillah.
Volume 3, Book 29, Number 85:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, "A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahram (her husband or a man with whom that woman cannot marry at all according to the Islamic Jurisprudence), and no man may visit her except in the presence of a Dhu-Mahram." A man got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)! I intend to go to such and such an army and my wife wants to perform Hajj." The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said (to him), "Go along with her (to Hajj)."

Volume 3, Book 29, Number 86:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
When the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) returned after performing his Hajj, he asked Um Sinan Al-Ansari (radiallaahu `anhaa), "What did forbid you to perform Hajj?" She replied, "Father of so-and-so (i.e. her husband) had two camels and he performed Hajj on one of them, and the second is used for the irrigation of our land." The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said (to her), "Perform 'Umra in the month of Ramadan, (as it is equivalent to Hajj or Hajj with me (in reward)."
1. The ruling on a woman travelling alone can be read upon here.
2. I repeat this statement to emphasize on it: "no man may visit her except in the presence of a Dhu-Mahram". PLEASE follow this advice. Visiting can be physical and virtual (online/phone etc.), if you know what I mean..
3. Sometimes one must give preference to their spouse's needs instead of their own. In the above (top) narration, Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) asked the husband to (forget about going with the army and) take his wife to Hajj. Aww. :P
And in the second narration, the wife herself stayed back and sacrificed so her husband could perform Hajj easily.. Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) consoled her advising her to perform `Umrah in Ramadan so she wouldn't miss out on the reward.

Lurvvvv! (Hadith No. 1170)

Bismillah.
Narrated 'Aisha:
During his sickness, Allah's Apostle was asking repeatedly, "Where am I today? Where will I be tomorrow?" And I was waiting for the day of my turn (impatiently). Then, when my turn came, Allah took his soul away (in my lap) between my chest and arms and he was buried in my house.
Prophet (SAW) would take regular turns to be with his wives. Although he loved `A'ishah (RA) more than the others, he never treated the others unjustly. During the days of his fatal illness, he became really impatient to be with `A'ishah, so he would ask again and again: 'where am I today? Where will I be tomorrow?', indicating that he wanted to visit `A'ishah real soon.
And same was the case with `A'ishah (RA); she kept getting impatient as well. So in order to fulfill Prophet (SAW)'s wish, the wives mutually decided to let `A'ishah have their share of the days. When finally he came to be with `A'ishah (RA), it was there in her lap that his soul was taken away. And it was there in her house that his body was buried. Sallallahu `alaiyhi wasallam.
When you love someone, it's natural that you desire to see them and be with them as much as possible. And with a love so pure as this one (among spouses), it's just plain cute. <3
The last person Prophet (SAW) saw before his death was `A'ishah (RA). Aww! :)
One of the greatest aims of marriage according to the laws of Allaah is so that affection and compassion may prevail between the spouses. This is the foundation on which married life should be built. Allaah, may He be exalted, says:

“And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy” [al-Room 30:21]
Al-Haafiz Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Affection means love, and compassion means kindness. A man keeps a woman either because he loves her or her because he feels compassion towards her because he has children from her.
Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) also said:
There is no love between any two souls greater than that that exists between the spouses.
Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 3/525
Difference between love and 'madness' here.

Y U NO? (Hadith No. 809)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Here's the complete title of this post: Y U NO WAKE YOUR SPOUSE UP FOR TAHAJJUD/WITR?

Volume 2, Book 16, Number 809:
Narrated 'Aisha :
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) used to offer his night prayer while I was sleeping across in his bed. Whenever he intended to offer the Witr prayer, he used to wake me up and I would offer the Witr prayer too.
Nuff said. Hehe.
It is highly recommended that one wakes up one's own partner for this prayer. Abu Hurairah quoted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying:
“May Allah bless the man who gets up during the night to pray and wakes up his wife and who, if she refuses to get up, sprinkles water on her face. And may Allah bless the woman who gets up during the night to pray and wakes up her husband and who, if he refuses, sprinkles water on his face.” (Ahmad)
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:
“If a man wakes his wife and prays during the night or they pray two rak`ahs together, they will be recorded among those (men and women) who (constantly) make remembrance of Allah.” (Abu Dawud.)
May Allah give us the tawfeeq:
  • to have spouses who don't mind water being sprinkled on their faces while they're sleeping. :P
  • and to follow this beautiful Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW). <3
Y U NO? That was random..
Wassalam.
