Asalam o alaikum.
Today i was watching cricket match at TV and just skimmed through some channels and all of a sudden stopped at a channel called 'AXN'. And i saw something ridiculous there which i want to share. Some people were playing a competition in which they had to catch mice under water, by their mouth only. The one who collected the most would win. So people went inside some transparent water tank and started collecting mice. All of this really made me pity about the miserable life westeners are living and now they find pleasures in doing such things, which make absolutely no meaning whatsoever, to relieve their stresses and tentions. Life for them has become a mere play and amusement. And this is exactly what Allah Almighty warned us about, again and again.
"And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play."
(44:38)
Their pitiable condition also made me think of the following Quranic ayah:
"..They are just like cattle - nay, but they are worse!" (7:179)
I can't express the thanks to Allah Almighty for making us a Muslim and providing us with proper understanding of our purpose in life. The more i think of it, the more i feel ashamed that what have i ever done to thank Allah Almighty for this greatest blessing?
