Opinion of great scholars of Past on 2nd coming of Jesus aliehis salam

Qadianis and some other people who donot believe in authenticity of hadith are doing propoganda for a long period of time that Isa aliehi salam has died and will not come back again on this earth There are clear cut hadiths narrating the fact that he will come back on earth and will rule the globe and kill the one eyed Dajjal .One of the famous hadith quoted by Imam Muslim in his Saheeh is
Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my life, the son of Mary (may peace be upon him) will soon descend among you as a just judge. He will break crosses kill swine and abolish Jizya, and the wealth will pour forth to such an extent that no one will accept it. (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 1, p. 92)
In this article I will try to explore the opinion of some great scholars of the past about the hadiths related to 2nd coming of Jesus aliehis salam
Here are some sayings of great Imams of Ahlus sunnah with complete references refuting point of view of those people who donot believe in 2nd coming of Isa aliehis salam
- Imam Abu Mansur Muhammad al-Maturidi, who, while studying the hadith regarding Jesus (pbuh), stated that Jesus (pbuh) would return to Earth and make the Antichrist ineffective.1
- Al-Ajuri, regarded as one of the first experts on the Qur'an, stated that Jesus (pbuh) will return to Earth in the End Times, for which reason the report must be believed.2
- Ibn Hazm , regarded as great Imam of Fiqah and author of famous book Al Muhallah, stated that the report that Jesus (pbuh) would return is reliable.3
- Al-Pazdavi drew attention to the fact that reports of Jesus' (pbuh) second coming are openly revealed in many verses and hadith.4
- An-Nasafi stated that this event was one of the major signs of the Day of Judgment.5
- Saduddin al-Taftazani stated that the hadith about this event are completely trustworthy.6
- Ibn al-'Arabi reported that even though more than a thousand years has passed since Jesus' (pbuh) birth, he is alive in body and soul in God's presence.7
- Al-Qurtubi wrote that he believes in the second coming of Jesus (pbuh) and indicated many trustworthy hadith to back up this belief.8
- Imam Rabbani wrote: "Jesus (pbuh) will descend from the sky and will be a member of Prophet Muhammad's (may God bless him and grant him peace) community. In other words, he will be one of his people and will abide by the Divine law."9
- Imam Abu Ja'far al-Tahawi, regarded as one of the most important Egyptian Hanafi scholars of his time and a great writer on aqeedah, opined that the return of Jesus (pbuh) is a major sign of the End Times and stated the need to believe in this truth.10
- 'Ali al-Qari ,a great hanafi scholar, said that Jesus' (pbuh) second coming is a sign of the Day of Judgment and that when he returns, he will make the Antichrist ineffective. According to al-Qari, belief in this report is obligatory, for the subject is fixed by a number of reports from the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) and his followers.11
- Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari in his book Maqalat al-Islamiyyin wa Ikhtilfa' al-Musallin (The Discourses of the Proponents of Islam and the Differences among the Worshippers) said: "It is a requirement to believe in these elements on which the people of the hadith and the people of the Sunnah are agreed: in God, angels, the books, the prophets, the revelations received from God, and in the words of the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) that the Antichrist will appear and that Jesus (pbuh) will make him ineffective.”12
- Al-Bayadi draws attention to the fact that the second coming is one of the signs that the Day of Judgment is approaching, and that reliable hadith fully support this information.13
- Al-Suyuti reported that Jesus (pbuh) will come and rule with the law of Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace).14
- Al-Alusi said that when Jesus (pbuh) returns, he will rule with the law of Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace) and the Muslims will be his helpers.15
- Abu Munteha, an Islamic scholar from the Ottoman period, said it was right to believe in the return of Jesus (pbuh).16
- Ibne-Atya, another commentator, goes on to state that Moslem theologians are unanimous in holding that Jesus Christ is physically alive at present in Heavens and is destined to return to this world in the same condition towards the approach of the Last Day.17
-Ibn Sa'd, a famous Islamic historian and writer of Tabaqat, writes when Christ was raised (to the heavens), he was thirty-two years and six months old. The period of his prophethood lasted for thirty months. Allah raised him to heaven with his body; he is still alive and will return to this world and he will be a king of the whole earth and then he will die like other living beings. 18
- Al-Shinqiti, a modern commentator, wrote: "Both the Qur'an and the generally accepted Sunnah are proofs that Jesus (pbuh) is at this moment alive, that he will descend in the End Times, and that his coming is regarded as one of the signs of the Day of Judgment."19
-Allama Ehsan Elahi Zaheer ,a great scolar of hadith has stated it clearly that 2nd coming of Jesus aliehi salam is a concrete fact which cannot at all be denied.He states that Indeed he will descend from heavens with his hand on the wings of angels on the eastern minarates of Damascus Mosque.20
-Ahmad Deedat,a great orator on contemporary religious studies has declared that Indeed Jesus will come back .21
-Imam Muhammad Gondalvi rahimahullah,a great teacher of hadith and sunnah has also declared that hadiths addressing the issue of coming back of Isa aliehi salam cannot be refuted .22
-Imam Nasir ud din Al bani ,a great researcher of Hadith also has declared the hadith of coming back of jesus as authentic.23
-Yusuf Ali , a famous commentator on Quran has the following comment appended to the text while translating verses of Surah Zukhruf (Surah 43.63-64).This is understood to refer to the second coming of Jesus in the Last Days just before the Resurrection, when he will destroy the false doctrines that pass under his name, and prepare the way for the universal acceptance of Islam, the Gospel of Unity and Peace, the Straight Way of the Qur'an.24
